Six West Bloomfield High School Students Qualify for the DECA International Conference in Virtual Business
West Bloomfield, MI- November 18, 2016 - Six West Bloomfield High School DECA students qualified to attend the DECA International Conference in Anaheim, California this April in Virtual Business where they will compete against 18,000 of the top Marketing students around the world.

Juniors, Nick Seidel, Matthew Ladouceur and Brian Bembas qualified for the second year in a row in Virtual Business Sports. Last year this same group earned 4th place in the nation for the same competition area. The simulation gives students the opportunity to see inside the world of sports and entertainment marketing. Students work within the game to earn the highest profit for a given season amongst ticket pricing, stadium operations, staffing, sponsorship, concessions, concert booking and promotion.
Rei Mizuno, Maria Kakos and Vietress Feller also qualified for DECA Nationals in Virtual Business Hotel. This is the first time West Bloomfield High School has competed in the Hotel Simulation.
The simulation has students take over the management of a full service hotel. The online simulation helps students learn the hourly and daily business decision making that goes into running a high-end, successful hotel. The event was developed with the support of the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation.

“I enjoy DECA because it involves what I want to do when I am older and it is a great learning experience. I encourage people to join DECA because you meet new people, and it is an overall great experience. My best DECA memory is probably finishing 4th place in the nation for Virtual Business Sports.” - Brian Bembas (11), Virtual Business Sports

“I enjoy DECA because it’s a competitive but welcoming activity that helps me advance my business mindset for my future. I am so excited for nationals this year because I get to spend time with my closest friends in California and meet different DECA students from around the world.” - Vietress Feller, DECA Virtual Business Hotel (11)
