The Director of Maintenance assumes administrative authority, responsibility and accountability to perform and maintain the physical plant and essential mechanica, electrical and resident care equipment in safe operatinn condition using internal staff as well as outside contractors as needed. Schedules and performs skilled technical and preventive maintenance functions in building and grounds maintenance, alteration and repair of the facility, daily maintenance checklist functions, and equipment repairs.
High school graduate with vocational training in building and/or mechanical trades.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in providing maintenance for a building/facility.
Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
Must be able to verbally communicate with staff, residents and members of the public.
Must be able to read and write English in order to document observations, follow written directives, and generate documents for communication with staff and vendors.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
Possess the ability to maintain an adequate work flow to achieve maximum efficiency within the Maintenance Department in an environment with rapidly changing priorities and requirements.
Must be honest, dependable, of good moral character and exhibit a caring manner to staff and residents.
Must successfully pass a State of Michigan required nationwide criminal history check, including fingerprinting.
